Chassis & Powertrain Engineer

Job Description
Job Responsibilities:

Call on and complete technical reports related to visits to truck, powertrain, and chassis manufacturers

Work closely with Product Manager(s)-PTOs & Electronics, Hydraulics, etc.

Work closely with Tulsa Engineering for new product development

Work closely with Sales, including but not limited to Customer Service Managers, Zone Sales Managers, and Market Specialists

Assist with prototype product placement and evaluation

Attend trade shows as needed

Compile notes from Technical Sessions at trade and industry related shows for internal distribution

Travel throughout North America; work requires travel to company and industry locations both within the United States and specific international locations

Interact with vocational body builder OEM businesses related to new chassis and powertrain applications

Call on specialty body builders/truck upfitters as required (secondary to OEMs) regarding special engineering related problems and issues

Participate on Muncie Power teams to offer input on team scope

Provide training classes to internal as well as external customers as needed, based on product and process knowledge base as needed

Will direct special projects as needed for advancement of company objectives

May be required to install and work on PTO’s, pumps, etc. in the field


Job Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in Design, Mechanical or Industrial Engineering or other applicable engineering or technical degree from an accredited educational institution

Minimum of 5-7 years of either gear, gearbox, or powertrain design engineering experience required

Knowledge of applicable industry standards

Experience in on-highway powertrain systems

Advanced math skills, special relationship abilities, and the ability to understand abstract principles behind math and physics

Working knowledge of CAD tools

Ability to travel to meetings, site visits, and inspections; requires a valid state driver’s license within 60 days of employment, and a valid passport

Current Class A CDL preferred; willingness to obtain the CDL within first year of employment required; necessary for test driving heavy trucks when applicable

Ability and willingness to work a flexible schedule; may be required on occasion to work some evening and weekend hours

Industrial or manufacturing sales and marketing experience preferred

Must be willing to travel up to 75% of the time

Ability to work well with others

Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing

Self-motivated with an inquisitive mindset and a strong desire to succeed

Six Sigma Black Belt certification or ISO/IEC 17025 Certified Auditor preferred
