An LNG Proposal Development Senior Engineer supports the Regional Sales effort of new equipment main refrigeration units worldwide. The candidate needs to have a huge degree autonomy and be ready to work on large projects which could exceed several hundred millions of dollars in selling price. The position reports to the leader of the LNG business unit.
Position Qualifications (Required and Preferred):
Mechanical and Thermodynamic Engineering Degree (master in science) from an accredited higher education institution or equivalent work experience
Minimum five years of experience in the Oil & Gas industry.
Proficiency with MS Word, MS Excel and MS Outlook, select engineering programs
Excellent written, verbal communications and presentation skills
Work well with others in a team environment
Proficiency in spoken and written English language, bilingual & international experience a plus
Domestic and international travel is required to support training, project presentations, bid clarification and project kick off meetings
Position Responsibilities and Duties:
The primary responsibility of a Proposal Development Engineer is to develop creative and robust solutions and turn them into proposals for Dresser-Randís customer/client base encompassing the following:Review the Clientís Request for Quotation (RFQ)
Perform equipment selections including drivers and auxiliary systems, using Dresser-Randís Smartsuite set of tools and get the aerodynamic performance reviewed by engineering.
Perform the lateral rotor dynamic analysis with the engineering support when necessary.
Fully configure proposed solution(s) using the Corporate Product Configurator (CPC)
Identify safety option that could contribute to make the D-R offer safer in view to participate to improve our client safety records
Review and comment to the Customerís Technical Specifications
Prepare Buyout RFQs. Ensures integration and participation of the regional SCM coordinator in the proposal process.
Engage and negotiate with major sub-Suppliers to create mutually beneficial Client solutions
Review and verify Vendor quotations
Coordinate the Cost Analysis and Prepare Pricing
Establish the Payment Milestones, ensure alignment of sub-supplier payment terms
Perform a Cash Flow Analysis on each opportunity being quoted
Work with the Regional Coordination Group, Operation-based departments, shared services (e.g., Finance, Credit) and the Field Service organization, as required, in order to identify and quantify risks, develop mitigating actions to those risks, prepare the technical/execution risk assessment form
Request input from the Project Development Manager or Opportunity Leader for the commercial risk assessment
Coordinate Proposal Bill of Materials & System Drawings
Coordinate and challenge the Project Schedule to propose the highest value to the client
Determine and report if any special investment is required to complete the order in case of success.
Maintain the Siebel Opportunity Database - Technology Enabled Selling (TES), as required for those items under Client Services area of responsibility
Assist the Project Development Managers in developing Technical and Commercial strategies for the successful implementation of the Order Capture Process on a project by project basis
Prepare the development of quantified Value Propositions for the sale team with the support from our MBO supplier and D-R operations.
Directs integration of technical activities, products and services, including vendor supplied equipment/services in regional proposals in a timely manner to meet proposal deadlines
Reviews the proposal process for compliance with established regional processes, including proposal completeness, accuracy, degree of configuration, cash flow analyses, risk assessment forms (execution, commercial, legal), solution configuration, on-time submittals, etc
Insure that the Technical and Commercial proposals in response to client inquiries meet Dresser-Randís standards for quality, completeness and timeliness
Identify cost- or time-saving opportunities inside the proposal development process, or stemming from Regional Contract Change Authorizations (CCAís), and implement process improvement (PI) initiatives
Contribute or lead Regional Review Boards (RRBís) for new turbo opportunities, providing input on technical and value advantages of D-R product and service offerings.
Participates in strategy development sessions
Complete the Risk Analysis Management process prior to issuing new equipment proposals, paying particular focus on margin screens, currency risks, payment terms, cash flow, cancellation terms, and execution risks
Review pricing for compliance with pre-established screens and price/scope agreement.
Issues price recommendations for approval
Prepare, lead, coordinate and participate in client clarification meetings and discussions
Understand the clientís applications and processes
Understand the competitionís products & offerings
Prepare and submit in a timely manner the Imminent Order Notification and the Order
Entry packages to the manufacturing Operation
Participate in internal kick-off meetings and client kick-off meetings
Support the Proposal Development Manager and Vice President of Business Solutions with project or product presentations
Participate to maintain LNG market information tools up to date
Conducts business affairs with the highest standards of ethics and integrity
