| Job Description | Hummingbird Scientific is looking to add a Lead Machinist/Programmer to its manufacturing team. Our machinists work in a state-of-the-art facility alongside the designers, assemblers and inspectors that comprise our microscopy product manufacturing and production efforts. A successful candidate will have a curious and creative mind and be interested in working as part of a team.
Innovation is a way of life at Hummingbird and our machinists play a critical role - helping to continuously improve manufacturing processes and the products we produce. A typical day in this development environment might include making several one-of-a-kind parts followed by a small batch of 5-10 parts.
Our shop is our laboratory and we treat it that way – the environment is tidy, temperature-controlled and we use low-toxicity coolants to reduce odors. A successful candidate will be excited to help us maintain our focus on innovation, our attention to detail and our commitment to keeping things clean.
Principal background and skills needed:
*Journeyman level machinist skills
*CAD/CAM programming
*CNC turning and milling (multi-axis preferred)
*Experience with Fanuc controls
*Proficient typing
*Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Desired skills:
*Mill/Turn multi-axis machining and programing
*EDM (fine hole, sinker and wire)
*Experience/familiarity with CMMs
