Job Description
Qualifications:
The continued growth of Krieger Specialty Products requires a dedicated and proven leader able to work closely with all business functions. BS/BA, manufacturing, industrial engineering or related major or equivalent combination of education and 5 or more years’ experience will be required. Knowledge of industrial management, and employee relations skills required. Prior experience of managing a metal fabrication plant required. Must be PC proficient and have the ability to draw via predominate CAD systems. Experience in working with manufacturing based technology, CNC machines and conventional machining design, fixturing and tooling (design and build) is essential.

The individual must possess basic language skills, the ability to write reports and business correspondence, effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of clients and fellow employees. Further, one must show the ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions and create solutions appropriate to the situation. Understands and effectively manages all lean manufacturing aspects of plant operations.

Job Purpose:
Responsible for the improvement and development of existing manufacturing processes and the implementation of new techniques calculated to improve productivity. Oversees management of all manufacturing in a sheet metal operation to produce specialty door and frame products in the most cost effective manner within quality standards. Responsible for achieving optimum labor, minimal overhead and raw material costs. You will interface with and influence the plant management and the production engineering department to attain maximum efficiency in the design and production of our products, established financial benchmarks. Formulates and recommends manufacturing policies and programs which guide the organization in maintaining and improving its competitive position, improves the profitability of the operation and exceeds the customers’ needs and expectations.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Evaluation of Existing Manufacturing Processes and Implementation of Improved Manufacturing Techniques.

1. Ensures standards for product quality, equipment, and operator performance are maintained and that cost-effective technology is used to maximize production. Ensures fixed assets are preserved. Initiates recommendations on purchases of new equipment and improvements to plant property.
2. Develop and implement a continuous improvement plan to leverage strengths, mitigate weaknesses and improve productivity Ensures orders are manufactured according to specifications and quality standards are met. Creates schedules and participate in Kaizen events designed to improve existing manufacturing processes and improve throughput.
3. Advises management on labor issues including safety, security, employee relations, scheduling, training, grievances and the like. Ensures assistant plant managers and lead men are adhering to company policy and administering practices in fair and equitable manner.
4. Research technological advances relative to existing manufacturing processes and evaluate for potential benefits.
5. Continually improve safety record by addressing both physical safety issues and employee safety attitudes. Maintains and improves housekeeping in all areas.
6. Conduct training sessions as required to implement new techniques and processes.
7. Coordinate with Project Engineers, NC Programmers and shop personnel to reduce setup times and improve machining techniques.
8. Uses and maintains the WIP software as database for scheduling. Will be part of any evaluation of quantitative software changes or upgrades.

SECONDARY FUNCTIONS

1. Manages budget and controls expenses, effectively. Provide monthly status report for management review.
2. Hires, trains, develop, and appraise staff effectively. Takes corrective action as necessary on a timely basis and in accordance with company policy. Consults with Human Resources as appropriate.
3. Keeps up-to-date on information and technology affecting functional area(s) to increase innovation and ensure compliance.
