Opto-Mechanical Engineer

Job Description
Light Age is the leading supplier of alexandrite laser systems worldwide for almost every application from laser hair removal to atmospheric lidar. Its products are sold under its own name brands and in OEM and embedded products distributed by other device manufacturers. In addition to its volume product manufacturing, Light Age develops custom laser systems and new laser capabilities under contract and in strategic partnerships. Light Age frequently develops laser systems with flexible and/or highly specialized capabilities for applications requiring new, difficult, and sometimes seemingly impossible laser characteristics.

Light Age seeks an MS or BS level Opto-Mechanical Engineer to join their design team. Candidates should have their degree in mechanical engineering, mechanical design, or a related field. Additionally, candidates should have prior experience in developing opto-mechanical systems from the concept phase, to the design phase, and through assembly and test phases. The Opto-Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for developing mechanical subsystems that are integrated into Light Age lasers. These subsystems perform a variety of critical functions, such as maintaining optical alignment under changing environment conditions, securing components in a stable manner, directing and re-directing beampaths, and providing motion control to mechanical sub-assemblies, to name a few. To complete these designs, the opto-mechnical engineer will have to rely on his / her expertise in mechical design, materials properties, optical imaging principles, and electro-mechanical controls
