Product Engineer

Job Description
Accountable for improving business competitive advantage by leveraging best technologies, aircraft system expertise, and an understanding of our customer’s problems to design, develop and qualify new products that are substantially superior to our competitors.

Commands a deep working knowledge of specific aircraft systems, product types (example, valves) and the latest technologies that could be used to improve these products.

Mentors others in field of expertise, works with little technical oversight, solves toughest technical problems.

Supports company technical strategic roadmap and product development objectives.

Technical lead on project / product proposals.
Responsible for compliance to engineering codes, practices and standards on all design to spec products.
Leverage experience and knowledge to ensure that our proprietary products will perform in the field as promised with minimal to no reliability issues.
Responsible for risk identification and mitigation plans for project / product development.
Leads activities related to specification, design and testing for new product development.
Generate and leverage I.P. for new product development, take appropriate steps to identify & protect company investments in innovation.
Mentor / develop future technical leaders.
Technical interface with customers
CAD and FEA work as required.
Ensure that product designs not only meet performance requirements, but also meet cost and manufacturability expectations as well.
Co-Op talent development.
Support ongoing production with troubleshooting, cause and corrective action analysis as needed.
Support and participate in continuous improvement events and lean manufacturing initiative.
Other duties, reporting, special assignments or projects as needed and assigned.


Requirements

Four year degree in engineering required (mechanical, electrical, aerospace, or manufacturing engineering preferred) OR 15+ years of progressive responsibility in a product design role in lieu of degree.

10+ years’ experience in design engineering.
Experienced in Tolerance analysis and GD&T.
Strong mechanical aptitude.
Positive communication skills and ability to perform within a cross-functional team environment.
Demonstrated ability to draw conclusions and make recommendations based on technical inputs from multiple and varied functions (i.e. Manufacturing, Quality, Regulatory, etc.).
Demonstrated ability to provide technical leadership for engineering projects with substantial complexity and scope.
Ability to work autonomously, as well as a member or leader of a project team.
Excellent technical, written and oral communication skills.
Microsoft Office Skills.
Strong 3D CAD capabilities. ANSYS analysis experience preferred.
Lean Leader level III (or equivalent Lean training and experience) strongly preferred.
