I. Department Overview: As Product Manager you will drive lifecycle and marketing management for key softgel franchises, focusing on driving growth, innovation, value proposition development, lead generation and marketing activities. You will help develop growth and go to market strategy and activities, as well as help drive lead generation and marketing communications and tactics.


II. Primary Accountabilities


Assess market potential for the right segment/targets for your product or services, and with relevant business & technical teams, help develop and drive implementation of the Growth and Go To Market strategy to achieve the market share and revenue objectives.
Together with Marketing Services develop the appropriate global & regional marketing strategies (customers, projects, pricing, specific solutions) for each segment. Identify the tactics and create the marketing and lead generation plans to support and execute the strategy.
Help develop and ensure that the full business team has a clear understanding of end user needs, key benefits, Catalent value propositions and marketplace dynamics that impact the product/service lines. Determine which needs are most important and translate them into clear direction for product development and improvement
Develop and communicate a clear Product Strategy Plan. Help manage the product/technology lifecycle. Identify and recommend new products, proprietary formulations, or product upgrades to increase or defend market share.
Proactively lead and interface with Business Development, Operations and R&D organizations to ensure flawless execution of growth and innovation plans.

III. Specific Duties, Activities, and Responsibilities:

For the Responsible Portfolio:

Create and update forecasts of market size and potential, including potential competitive product/service strategies and tactics. Monitor competitive market successes and failures and incorporate in product line strategy setting.
Help drive customer segment and target analysis and value pricing initiatives.
Codify individual sub-strategies for each segment of the business including toll services, proprietary offerings and product participation.
Partner with Marketing Services on content for product collateral, web, and any relevant marketing materials.
Work with Field Sales to ensure execution of the tactical plans as conceived.
Measure effectiveness of plans against objectives for customer awareness, trial, project wins, and repeat business objectives and estimate market share progress.
Scout and stay abreast of new technologies that could compete for the same benefit stories.
Serve as internal and external evangelist for product offerings, working closely with Sales and key customers to secure contracts for in-market applications
Help manage gross margin of product line by working with Sales, Operations and Finance to provide pricing guidelines for segments to ensure pricing on customer projects delivers profitability requirements.

IV. Position Requirements:

Reports to: Strategic Marketing Director, Rx Softgel

Supervises: As organization grows will supervise Strategic Marketing Specialists or Analysts. Important leadership and Indirect influence position. Organization will serve as traditional brand management hub-of-the-wheel in influencing many departments and key functions. Exerts leadership, organizing and planning and consulting behaviors up and down the organization. (Supervises Strategic Marketing Manager/Analyst as the organization growth).

Education or Equivalent and work experience:
BA in business/marketing required with MBA preferred. Minimum 4 years’ prior marketing experience, in Rx, OTC or related consumer health products or technology/health products in a B2B environment.

Alternatively a degree in health, life sciences, pharmaceutical science, chemistry or a related technical discipline with a minimum of 6 years of marketing and product management experience.

§ Comfortable with ambiguity, must have executive presence.

Work Environment:
Primarily office environment, with some time spent in laboratories, manufacturing plant sites and visits to customer locations. Location: Somerset, NJ
