Quality Engineer

Job Description
Manages and improves quality-related aspects of Kreg production processes and new product development, including, but not limited to:
Develop and maintain control plans that specify quality checks and frequency.
Improve process capabilities to reduce scrap and increase customer satisfaction using Lean, Six Sigma, and statistical process control (SPC) methodologies.
Identify and implement improvements to meet external and internal quality targets.
Apply statistical methods and root cause analysis techniques to solve problems. For larger scope projects, use the A3 process to plan, organize, and report results.
Lead kaizen teams and apply Lean principles. Represent operations on cross-functional teams.
Assist with preparation and execution of new product launches and product promotions.
Facilitate FMEA events for new products and major product changes
Review Critical to Quality (CTQ) dimensions for new parts / products. Verify manufacturability of parts and products.
Plan and conduct part validations for new products, product changes, supplier changes, etc. Report findings and recommend product and process changes to ensure manufacturing capability.
Develop and maintain visual standards.
Build collaboration with the operations and product development teams to ensure quality is a priority in all manufacturing processes.
Build and maintain relationships with key suppliers. Be the technical point of contact for key suppliers. Conducts supplier qualifications to determine and mitigate risk to the business.
Act as a mentor and trainer for the quality techs.


Education and/or Experience:

BS degree in Engineering
Minimum 1 year engineering experience in a manufacturing environment

Preferred
Experience with creating and/or maintaining quality standards, control plans, and validation plans.
Experience in leading improvement teams using Lean, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodology.
Experience with root cause analysis and problem solving.
Experience with statistical process control.
Experience interacting with suppliers.
Understanding of injection molding and CNC / lathe machining operations.
