Conduct multi-discipline research and process development in a group working with senior scientists, engineers and technicians to set up experiments, conduct optical measurements, develop optical systems or processes and optimize them to meet internal requirements. Research new processing techniques for fabrication of micro, or nano-structured optical components. Develop high precision processes for manipulating, welding, cutting, finishing and polishing special optical materials. Deliver oral and written reports to project teams, broad audiences within R&D, as well as external conferences and publications.
MS or PhD in Physics, Optics, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, Material Science or other relevant discipline. Minimum 3 years in a research, development, or engineering environment specializing in lasers or laser processing. Ability to understand characteristics of conventional lasers for laser processing. Hands-on experience with optical modeling tools related to laser processing. Working knowledge of MatLab and/or Labview for data collection and analysis
