Monitor underwriting quality and results of the General Liability and Umbrella lines of business segments and develop and implement strategies for business segments. Assess the competitive landscape in order to identify pricing and coverage issues and lead in any product development opportunities when necessary. All job duties and responsibilities must be carried out in compliance with applicable legal and regulatory requirements.
Monitor and analyze business segment results to ensure the achievement of pricing objectives and profit improvement plans for segment. Identify trends and recommend strategies that can improve business segment results.
Provide strategic focus on assigned business segment needs and implement both long- and short-term competitive advantage strategies to support the regions and improve business segment results.
Recommend effective pricing structures for assigned business segments.
Conduct loss analysis on a book of business level for applicable segments.
Assist in developing and distributing effective marketing materials to regional personnel, agents, and others to assist them in better understanding the value associated with Selective's products and services with an assigned business segments.
Ensure underwriting guidelines for business segments are current, adequate and implemented by the regions.
Actively participate in all aspects of effective quality control assessments. These may include conducting new and renewal account audits, monitoring and assessing scorecards, large loss analysis, action plans, etc.
Assist the regions in securing additional new business by providing expertise in underwriting and pricing large, unique and/or complex accounts, and identify creative ways to successfully write unique accounts.
Assist in the development of any other tools that would support the regions and agents to increase profitable growth within the assigned business segment.
College degree preferred.
2+ years risk management experience preferred
2+ years field underwriting experience preferred
2+ years specific business segment experience preferred
Project management skills preferred.
Strong customer service, networking, and relationship-building skills preferred.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving capability highly desired
