As a member of the Pilz ‘family’, you will work closely with customers, instilling confidence through individual consultations for flexible safety solutions and reliable service.
As a Sales Engineer for Southern Michigan region, you will be responsible for the support and growth of an established territory to sell automation safety controls and services. The position will initially include both sales development for all of Pilz products and services, along with sales development and support for our expanding emphasis on motion control sales. The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing sales in an assigned territory while working with our Michigan based Application engineers on motion control market development. The position will also include supporting field sales engineers to develop the motion control market in each of their territories. Travel will be required as needed both locally and regionally to meet these objectives.
Duties: Essential job functions include (but may not be limited to):
•Actively sell and support Pilz products within the territory to machine manufacturers, integrators and end users
•Establish and promote long-term business relationships with new and existing Pilz customers
•Assist in the developing and maintaining of motion control business and marketing plans.
•Find and develop new opportunities or applications for Pilz motion control product lines
•Assist field sales engineers in the promotion and sales of motion control products within their territories
•Maintain CRM (Customer Relationship Management) database
Qualifications: Education Required:
•BS or higher in Electrical, Mechanical or Control Engineering or other applicable technical degree or a combination of education and experience
•5 or more years of direct experience in industrial control sales with an understanding of automation and machine safety
•Direct experience with all aspects of motion control systems, including specifying, initializing, and supporting new systems.
•Proven track record of successful sales development in industrial automation, specifically in the area of motion control in the southern Michigan area
•Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
•Strong time management and organization skills
•Experience making cold calls
•Persons without a technical sales background in automation will not be considered
•Occasional overnights within the territory
•Team-oriented, well-organized, and self-motivated
