| Job Description | Performs complex detailed Power Take Off (PTO), flange, castings and assemblies of three-dimensional models and two-dimensional drawings at the direction of one of several product design engineers. Works with suppliers and/or production to optimize designs. Performs fundamental design analysis such as assembly tolerance stack ups. Establishes dimensioning schemes consistent with product function and manufacturing processes and is heavily involved with new product development projects.
Creates 3-dimensional models and 2-dimensional detail drawings of new product designs and current product improvements
Defines complex geometric tolerances and performs detailed tolerance stack up analyses
Generates bills of materials and engineering release documentation
Checks other designers work
Maintains accurate drawing files and bills of materials
Creates product structures within the business operating computer system
Works directly with product Engineers within a Product Development Process & Engineering Work Request structure
Responsible for planning and organizing assignments to meet due dates
Checks other designers prints and models
Requirements
Associate degree or certification in drafting technology or equivalent work experience and a minimum of 7 years of applicable mechanical design experience (designing, modeling and prints)
Proficient with three dimensional modeling and two-dimensional drawing software such as SolidWorks, ProE and other software
Proficient at Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
Extensive experienced with dimensioning and tolerancing of precision rotating shaft machinery involving heat treated gears, shafts, bearings, and splines
Experience with Microsoft Office products
Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
Able to guide and direct designers with their work
Detail oriented and well organized, works well with little guidance |
