Sr. Optical/Illumination Engineer in support of light engine & laser system design.
Design of illumination systems utilizing diffractive and holographic elements.
Ability to design diffractive optical elements for beam shaping, homogenization and general illumination.
Experience with imaging and illumination designs that support high volume consumer electronics products.
Experience with product design and development.
Optical tolerancing and definition to ISO 10110 .
Understanding of Opto-Mechanical Design& Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing to ASME Y14.5.
Experience designing illumination systems for HID, LED & Laser light sources.
Knowledge of optical materials.
Optical/Photonics testing experience.
Understanding of micro-display devices.
Knowledge of polarization control.
Fluent with Zemax and or FRED.
Experience with LightTrans – VirtualLab an asset.
Ability to create optical, illumination& imaging system specifications.
Basic EE experience.
Basic programming experience.
Build and test prototypes.
Working knowledge of component, assembly and system level testing.
EDUCATION OR FORMAL TRAINING:
Bachelor’s Degree – Engineering or equivalent combination of education and experience. Master's Degree preferred in related field.
5 years minimum experience optical design and development.

Advanced computer skills.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES:
Office environment for design and project work to comprise approximately 75%.
Lab work includes prototype assembly and testing to comprise approximately 25%.
