The Technical Product Support Engineer is a primary technical resource for the sales and marketing organization, and acts as the first line technical point of contact for customers and the Binoptics salesforce.

KEY JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: •Act as the customer-facing technical resource on BinOptics Products
•Work directly with technical teams to understand product design/architecture, hands-on test and tuning procedures, key specifications and product applications.
•Work with Sales and Marketing teams to support customer qualifications of Binoptics products. Provide customers with product application, test and reliability support.
•Write Data sheets, Application Notes and white papers relevant to product application, test and reliability for sales and customer distribution
•Prepare and deliver product presentations to customers as appropriate
•Drive customer product test and reliability requirements through the internal organization
•Analyze customer specifications and establish gap analyses
•Provide customer system design feedback to both marketing and engineering
•Work as a team member within the Field Applications Engineering (FAE) team worldwide. Periodically provide technical training on new products to FAEs.
•Coordinates with new product introduction team and works closely with the Sales team and key customers.
•Works with other groups in the company to ensure fulfillment of customer sample requests and follow-on product support
•Willing to travel occasionally internationally (Asia and Europe primarily) and domestically. Likely travel time is less than 10%.


SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS:
•Strong technical and verbal communication skills are a requirement
•Candidate must have a Bachelors degree (and preferably a graduate degree) in Engineering or Physics
•Minimum of 5 years of experience in lasers and fiber-based telecommunication product applications. Transceiver/transponder and network system level experience a plus.
•Familiarity with Telcordia and other performance and reliability standards
•Excellent oral and written communications skills.
