With a network of over two million affiliates, the Amazon.com Associates Program is a leader in online marketing, driving significant amounts of online traffic and revenue to Amazon.com properties worldwide. We are looking for a hands-on technical leader for our content syndication and content serving products. These products account for a significant portion of the revenue we generate and are critical to the company’s bottom line. The leader of this team will interact with senior business managers and product managers worldwide to deliver high business value products that scale with our rapid growth.

Our content syndication product drives massive amounts of traffic to Amazon.com websites by producing tailored data feeds for our partners such as the major comparison shopping engines and shopping portals on the web. This system processes huge volumes of data on a daily basis and your challenge will be to do this efficiently, on a massive scale. The content serving product serves Amazon.com content on hundreds of thousands of affiliate websites in the form of ads and widgets. You will work with a high-performance system that serves a variety of sophisticated offerings including our Omakase ads.


Qualifications
In this role, you will drive technical projects and provide leadership for a very strong team of engineers. Responsibilities span the full life cycle and include setting the technical direction for products, overseeing the planning and execution of complex projects, and sustaining engineering. The leader we are looking for will be passionate about software engineering and will bring proven experience in building highly scalable distributed systems.

Ideal Candidates will possess:

Hands-on software development experience
Proven track record in shipping software on schedule
Excellent presentation and written communication skills
Strong analytical and problem solving skills

Qualifications:

BS/MS/PhD in CS or equivalent
5+ years of industry experience, 2+ years managing engineering teams
Built & maintained scalable distributed systems
Strong OOD and OOP experience in Java/C++ plus scripting languages such as Ruby, Perl
Working knowledge of XML and XSLT
